Yesterday I wrote about the The Secret, that self help book and DVD which has been very popular.

Watching through the DVD again last night, I found many interesting quotes relating to the Law of Attraction, the basis of the ’secret’ itself.

I also saw some interesting examples of subliminal programming, three which I would like to share with you. They are all related to the sun.

1. SUN EMOTION

Big play is made on the fact that our emotions dictate our thoughts, and so it is important, The Secret tells us, to be feeling good rather than bad. They show us a diagram to illustrate this:

Notice how the sun is literally - and symbolically - behind the word ‘Feelings’. The word Love is shown at the top of the list, closest to the sun, and the font used ensures the L looks similar to the F in the word Feelings which appears to be reliant on the sun. Love is portrayed throughout The Secret in the sense of finding a partner as opposed to loving all human beings.

The camera then scrolls down to show a list of typical negative feelings to compare with the positive ones shown above.

Using the Law of Attraction on the basis of emotional states cannot be compared to using it on the basis of Consciousness. Emotion is an imbalance. Those presenting us with the facts on this DVD either do not know this, or they choose not to tell us.

2. SUN ENERGY

We are informed that the Universe works via a series of laws, which include Gravity:

“If you fall off a building, it doesn’t matter if you’re a good person or a bad person, you’re going to hit the ground.”

As soon as the words ‘hit the ground’ are uttered, the camera cuts away from the speaker and we are shown this shot…

… of the eastern seaboard of the USA. Then the camera zooms right in to illustrate a fall of a person to the ground.

The zoom happens very quickly, but I managed to identify that the city shown is Boston. Moving in closer…

… until finally, this:

It is an obelisk.

Obelisks symbolise male sun energy and the penis. The one in Boston looks like this from ground level:

Back to the overhead shot in The Secret video, which zooms right up to the obelisk, though you can’t tell it’s an obelisk at first sight. Finally, the exact position of the monument is overlaid on top of the next thing we must look at: the speaker’s mouth (that’s where the programming is literally coming from!). I have outlined the shape of the obelisk’s location below:

3. SUN COLOUR

A story about a boy who wants a bicycle is used to illustrate the Law of Attraction. When his emotion is negative the bicycle does not manifest.

Notice the yellow flowers, out of focus, in the foreground:

The boy, who is symbolically a son (sun), looks at the bicycle in a shop:

Look to the right of the image. The arch symbolises the rising sun. Meanwhile, the word Sunday is quite blatant on a yellow background, and it is situated beneath ‘Herald Sun’.

The camera pans out:

The reason the camera pans out is to show us the yellow sign to the bottom left of the image. And can you see the red van, moving from left to right, reflected in the window? All of this is designed to draw our attention to that word ‘Sunday’.

Here is the boy again, using a yellow torch (the sun) under the bed covers to give him a good look at the bicycle he wants.

Can you see how he is symbolically using the light of the sun to make him think positively?

I want to stress that at no point in The Secret are we told anything about the power of the sun in relation to the Law of Attraction.
